Happy Birthday Andrew

Our little Andrew is 3! I don't know where the time goes. It doesn't feel like all that long ago he was my baby. The poor kid had to suffer all day. He woke up and found his presents sitting on the kitchen table (oops, they where supposed to be put away). Of course, he wanted to open them right away. He was a good sport and agreed to open one, then wait for Daddy to get home from work to open the others. All day they sat on the table and he patiently waited for Daddy. When Daddy got home the party got started. Andrew was finally able to open his presents.

He was so careful and slow unwrapping each present. Madelyn was very impatient and keep trying to help him speed the process along. Then he had to play with each toy. We had to encourage him to continue opening the rest of his presents. It was a long process with Andrew saying, "Wow, there is something in here" every time he pulled the first part of the paper away. He was surprised that there was something in every present. He is so cute, I love it. He got very excited about the bubbles, the cars, and especially the trains. He also got excited by the, "Diego toy".
Andrew got a "tough trike" for his birthday. We had thought about getting a bicycle but we decided that he might not be able to ride it yet, so we went for the trike. Madelyn was too impatient to wait for Andrew to get it open, as soon as it was uncovered she was squealing, "my bike, my bike!" The rest of the night was spent trying to convince Madelyn that it was not her bike, it was Andrew's bike. He was kind enough to take turns riding it with her. The problem came when we wanted her to get off so that Andrew could go for a ride. Then it all started again this morning as soon as they where out of bed. The first thing I did this morning was go and get another "bike" for Madelyn. There was just way too much drama from our "drama queen" I couldn't take it. Now we have two trikes and these two rabble rouses are very happy spending hours riding around the driveway. Unfortunately, I know the time is fast approaching that the newness with wear off and they will sit forgotten in the garage. For now they cruise around on their "bikes" and all is right with their world.

I made the same mistake with Brennan on his 3rd birthday - he could see the gift on top of the fridge and drove us crazy all day begging to open it. When he finally did at the family party, he didn't want to open the others.

Happy Birthday to Andrew. He's getting so big. And... Happy Birthday to you too, Janna! (Right?)
